Official Rules
Q. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?
A. This free contest is open to any photographer who wants to submit sport, event or action images.
Q. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENTER?
A. There is no entry fee.
Q. WHEN IS THE ENTRY DEADLINE?
A. All entries must be submitted by 5pm EST on August 29, 2011.
Q. WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?
A. The winners will be announced in December 5, 2011.
Q. HOW DO I ENTER THE CONTEST?
A. Enter online at www.sepsociety.com.
Q. WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
All work submitted must be original and previously unpublished, and you must have written releases on file from any subjects pictured in the image. Entrant must have captured and created the original exposure. All digital manipulation must have been performed by the entrant. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification of entry. The decision of the Contest judges is final.
By entering, you certify that you have obtained all necessary releases and agree to defend and indemnify Society of Sport and Event Photographers (SEP), Professional Photographers of America (PPA), and PPA allied associations against any and all claims or liabilities arising out of or relating to its consideration, display, publication, promotion or other use of each photograph or other material submitted. PPA reserves the right to require additional releases before publication. Decisions of the Contest judges are final.
As a condition of entry, you license the images entered and recognized as winners to Society of Sport and Event Photographers, Professional Photographers of America, and PPA allied associations for advertising, display promotion, publication or other purposes in print, public displays, websites, brochures or other uses to support SEP, PPA and its allied associations as may be determined by SEP.
Q. HOW MANY IMAGES MAY I ENTER?
A. Entries for this year’s Contest will be limited to 5 images per entrant.
Q. WHAT FORMATS/SPECIFICATIONS DO YOU ACCEPT FOR IMAGE SUBMISSION?
A. Only digital files will be accepted. Print and e-mailed images will NOT be accepted. Submit low-resolution images only, in JPEG format only. Images should be 525x700 pixels; file size should not be more than 250k. A high-resolution, print-quality version (300ppi at 9x12 inches) must be available for print publication. PLEASE NOTE: Entries not complying with the Contest format and entry requirements will be subject to disqualification.
Q. HOW WILL ENTRIES BE JUDGED?
A. Images will be judged on technical and artistic merit. Selection will be conducted by SEP professional photographers.
GENERAL RULES OF PARTICIPATION: This Photographic Contest (Contest) is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. By participating, entrants and their participating entities agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and waive any right to challenge the decision of the Sponsor regarding any claim of ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, whose decision shall be binding. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable or incomplete entries, whether due to system errors or failures, faulty transmissions or other telecommunications malfunctions, typographical or otherwise. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Sponsor. If for any reason this Contest is not able to be conducted as planned, including, but not limited to, by reason of tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
Society of Sport and Event Photographers (SEP) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and its allied associations assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. SEP, PPA and its allied associations are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by SEP / PPA on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
Noncompliance within these time periods may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. By entering, participants release and hold harmless SEP/PPA, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Contest or any prize won.
